Types of Regular Chess - Lightning, Blitz, Standard, and Untimed

On Chess Live, there are four separate categories for regular chess: lightning, blitz, standard, and untimed. The estimated time, abbreviated as 'etime,' of a game determines in which category the game falls. The formula for etime is:

etime = Time + (2 * Inc / 3),

where "Time" is the number of minutes per side at the beginning of the game and "Inc" is the number of seconds a player gains after making a move, i.e. the increment.

• Lightning is very fast chess and is designated by 'l,' is defined to be a game with an etime of less than 3.
• Blitz, 'b,' is a quick game, with an etime of at least 3 but less than 15.
• Standard 's,', is a slower game, with an etime of 15 minutes or more.
• Untimed 'u,' games do not use a clock, i.e. it has an etime of 0, i.e. the Time and Inc are both 0. Untimed games are always unrated.
